Role of a Life Group Leader

Life Group leaders are responsible for providing their groups with vision, direction, and support. Leaders are successful when they are personally growing in their intimacy with God, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders, and are leading their groups in such a way as to encourage the group members’ growth in these three relationships as well. Life Group leaders are supported by a coach who reports to a Grace Covenant Church pastor.

  • Relationally warm—have good social skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Recognize the Bible as the authority for their lives.
  • Have Life Group experience (preferably).
  • Be a member of Grace Covenant Church or agreement to actively pursue.
  • Have the time, emotional capacity, and moral discernment to lead a group.

Expectations

  • Lead the group by facilitating the group meeting, monitoring its health and duration, and promoting participation among group members.
  • Commit to engage in leadership development opportunities provided by the church.
  • Identify and develop a qualified apprentice and embrace apprentice leader development as a measure of success.

Blood & Platelet Drive
Jan 2012 21

Event Dates:

February 25 • Saturday • 9am – 3pm • Auditorium

We’re asking for your help to fill a critical platelet and blood shortage for cancer patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

The MDACC Blood Bank will be bringing their donation team to Grace on Saturday, February 25th and will be on campus between 9am and 3pm. New and returning donors are URGENTLY needed. While platelets have a short five-day storage life, MD Anderson transfuses new platelet donations within 24-48 hrs to meet the demand of patient’s needs. Platelets help with blood clotting. MD Anderson Cancer Center transfuses around 150 red cells and 500 platelets (single donor or pooled) on a daily basis. Whole blood donations are also needed.

Registration and Requirements:

It takes about two hours to donate platelets and about 45 minutes to donate blood. You will also receive refreshments and an incentive item after your donation. Donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Please do not take aspirin, other anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), or herbal products starting with the letter G within 48 hours of your platelet donation.

To register, please contact Monica McCall.
