One of my favorite YouTube videos from the past year captured the speed and precision with which a Formula One pit crew lifted, changed the tires of and refueled a race car during a routine stop mid-lap. In the precious seconds when the race car was stopped, each individual performed his or her specific task, relying on the other team members to accomplish their own tasks at the same time. In those moments, everyone was working together to achieve a common goal, allowing the driver to reenter the race as quickly as possible.
It goes without saying that teamwork is of the utmost importance for a pit crew and each member is essential. Imagine the driver having to jump out of his seat, use the hydraulic lift, put on new tires and pump the gas himself. Instead of taking mere seconds, the process would take closer to 30 minutes.
This is why, after a Formula One driver wins a race, the entire pit team gathers on the podium to celebrate. Everyone did their job. Nobody does it alone.
February 3-5, 2017, at the winter retreat, students will have the opportunity to travel to the Wild West for 4:10 to Buckner as they study the truth of that statement: Nobody Does It Alone. It will be an amazing weekend at Camp Buckner filled with biblical teaching, fantastic worship, an unforgettable drama and memorable spiritual applications. This will be a great time for students to build close relationships with friends, grow closer to their Life Group leaders and go deeper in their relationship with Christ.
