Every Human Life is Sacred
Every Human Life is Sacred
We believe that all human beings are created in the image of God, giving all human lives dignity. Further, we believe that life begins at conception and support the right to life of an unborn child. We also recognize our calling as followers of Christ to show compassion and love in Christ’s name to those who might differ with our views, or who might have experiences with abortion in their past.
Imago Dei
Imago Dei is the beautiful Latin phrase articulating the truth that humanity is made in the image of God. This gives all people inherent dignity and value, not based on our capacities to do anything but on the value that God assigns us. This dignity and value crosses lines of age, physical ability, race, ethnicity, and being male or female, and is true regardless of economic status, or any other way we tend to categorize ourselves.
Elders Statement on Imago Dei
On Sunday, July 3, 2022, Executive Pastor Ray Anderson delivered a statement on behalf of the Grace Elder Board regarding Imago Dei, our beliefs about the sanctity of life and ways you can help support women and children.
Resource Drive for The Source
We are proud to partner with The Source, a life-affirming women’s reproductive health clinic in Austin and Houston, with virtual care resources and services through their website.
While financial donations through their website are always valued, The Source has let us know of many tangible needs the church can provide to best support the women and children who use their services. Use the link below to access their Amazon Wish List, filled with items for new moms such as diapers, formula, clothes and baby food, as well as postpartum care items to care for the new mother. Items purchased from this list are shipped directly to their facility for distribution to those families.
Resources to consider as you clarify how you think about Abortion
Genesis 1:27
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
Psalm 139:13-16
“For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.”
Proverbs 24:11
“Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.”
Dr. Matt Cassidy’s Sermon on July 11, 2021 entitled “Every Human Life is Sacred”
